Saving Money on a Cross Country Move

After twenty three years living in the same home, my wife and I decided to move to California to be closer to our daughter and our grandchildren. Making a cross country move was very daunting. We didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on the move, so my wife and I started thinking of cheap moving supplies we could make ourselves. We made all of our laundry baskets do double duty as boxes. We didn’t pack any of our blankets. We taped them around our wood and glass furniture as insulation to protect them. And we drove the moving truck for four days out to California ourselves.
