Parenting 101 - Is There Such A Thing?

There are so many books and articles that look at parenting styles but the best advice is to rely on your own first hand experience. We all feel that our advice is the best advice. But when it comes to raising children, we cannot say that one way fits all families. Our children are normally brought up like our parents raised us for the most part. If we were raised in a home where education was stressed as was doing housework, then the child will most likely bring home a great report card but may not keep a clean room. We cannot expect perfection because we ourselves are not perfect and neither were our parents when it came to some of the decisions that they made for us. As we get older and our children mature, we have to learn that our opinions of how to raise children may not be wanted. This is a startling thing but all parents go through this at some point in their lifetime. The only thing that can be done is for each parent to raise their children so that they will know how to make well informed decisions regarding what may be best for their children.
